'Substandard and falsified medicines’ (SF) is an umbrella term for a complex web of issues spread across the world. Poor manufacturing practices, coupled with weak regulatory oversight, are major determinants of SF medicines, as confirmed in recent years by multiple incidents involving paediatric syrups. Moreover, problems with shipping and storage may deteriorate medicines and vaccines, and shortages create opportunities for falsified pharmaceuticals to enter local markets.
This webinar will feature speakers with broad-ranging experience: from Indonesia to Sweden, from digital to physical marketplaces, and from the World Health Organization to the local pharmacy. Together, we will dive into the underlying mechanisms and what needs to be done to prevent these products from making their way to patients.
